Pak Rofi & Ibu Marwiti - Warung Warteg

Pak Rofi is originally from Tegal, so it might not come as a surprise to hear that he's the owner of a very popular warteg!

Where do you live, pak and ibu?

We live here; there is an upper floor. It is very expensive, IDR35.000.000 per year, but the location is strategic and our warteg is open 24 hours so we have to always stay close.

So this business is operated by the two of you?

Yes. The whole family lives here. We are both from this area so we don’t have to go very far. The children’s school is nearby as well.

Why start this business? Is there any change in the form of business since its inception started up to now?

This is a family business. My family is originally from Tegal, and started this business in Jakarta more than 30 years ago. Previously we had a warteg in Setiabudi, then relocated here. Everything has changed since the business started, but nasi warteg is still popular!

How does this business make profit ?

It depends. On a good day the profit could be IDR 1,000,000 per day, but it’s not certain. The cost is high, and each day we spend IDR 150,000 for vegetables and IDR700,000 for chicken, fish or meat. We buy the ingredients in monces market between the hours of 3 and 6 am because this business is always open.

Do you have any plans for the future?

Yes, maybe we can take a photo together?

Of course! Thank you for talking to us.
